As part of our World Around Us topic of Fashion, the pupils of P6 opted to hold a fashion day with the opportunity to make their own fashion accessories. The workbooks were replaced with sewing machines, knitting needles, old clothing and lots of haberdashery. The pupils used their imagination and creativeness to design their own clothing items. Football hats, gloves, decorated shoes, handbags and bandanas were just some of the items created by our fashionistas.
We invited local artisan, Joan King into the school to show us how she spins her own wool and creates her own pieces of clothing. It was fantastic to see how a raw material such as wool could be transform into a beautiful clothes. We look forward to when Mrs King returns, as she showcases the items she makes from recyclable materials.
