Return to School P1 to P7 update

17th Mar 2021

March 17th 2021

Dear Parents,

We are looking forward to welcoming all children from P4 to P7 back to school on Monday 22nd March. This is great news for everyone as we can once again enjoy face to face learning for all pupils from P1 to P7.

We are so excited about meeting up again we will be doing everything we can to settle the children back into school life.

As each class will be returning we ask that you follow the guidelines and timings listed below to help to ensure we can continue to comply with Government Guidelines during this period of continued Covid-19 restrictions. We remind you that pupils should not attend school if they have any symptoms of coronavirus or if they or any member of their immediate family is awaiting test results. We will continue to recommend social distancing and pupils will remain in their class bubbles both in the school building and at play times and will enter and exit the school at set times and through specific doors.

School dinners will operate as normal with each class eating together in their separate bubbles. School bags can be brought to school if teachers have requested them.

The school bus and the Killywool bus will run at their usual times both in the mornings and afternoons. We aren’t in a position to operate a 2-3 Club just yet however Killywool children in P1 and P2 children can, if parents wish, avail of the school bus in the afternoon at a cost of £1 per journey. Otherwise we ask that parents collect these children when their classes are finished.

Parents are advised not to enter the school building until we are advised otherwise.

Morning Drop off times

Pupils should not arrive to school earlier than 15 minutes before their start time. On arrival they should go to their designated play areas or to their classrooms if it is raining.

P1, P2, P5 and P6 should arrive between 8.45am and 9.00am

P3, P4 and P7 should arrive between 9.00am and 9.15am

Parents who have siblings in both these groups should arrive at the later time i.e. from 9.00am.

Afternoon finishing times

If at all possible, please make use of the school bus to ease congestion at the school.

We ask that parents wait at their cars until staff release children at the top car park

P1 will finish at 2.00pm and P2 at 2.15pm

P5 and P6 will finish at 2.45pm

P3, P4 and P7 will finish at 3.00pm

Please check at home and return all school books! We rely upon all school texts including reading books being returned so that we can operate successful reading groups.

Pupils in P4 to P7 should bring their current work packs to school as these will be in use now that children can return to face to face learning.

No doubt many of you are relieved that all children can finally get back to school. This has been a very challenging time for families and schools and on behalf of my staff I want to thank you all for the fantastic effort and support you have given during this lockdown period. Everything you have done to help your children over this time will have made a difference. Hopefully we can look forward to returning to normality from this point onwards.

Meantime, enjoy a well-earned rest from school work over this St Patrick’s Holiday!
